Wenn die Entscheidung ansteht, ein neues Smartphone zu kaufen – oder dem vorhandenen Gerät einen neuen Akku zu spendieren, dann prallen ‚Welten‘ aufeinander. Einerseits beschert ein neues Gerät das Gefühl (und wohl auch die Tatsache?), auf dem neuesten Stand der Technik zu sein und andererseits? Ein Neukauf erzeugt eine Nachproduktion und belastet damit die Umwelt durch Ressourcenbedarf. Nachhaltiges Denken und Handeln spräche demnach für den Akkutausch, sofern der Akku des vorhandenen Gerätes in die Knie geht oder bereits gegangen ist. Vergleicht man die Kosten sowohl als auch, dann wäre die Entscheidung einfach und logisch: Akkutausch.
Genau vor dem ‚Problem‘ stand ich. Mein 8 Jahre altes Blackberry Passport SE (s.Bild) hatte nur noch die halbe Akkuleistung und kam nicht mehr durch den Tag. Die Alternative für mich, der Android ablehnt, war also ein iPhone, neu oder refurbished. Ich tendierte zum iPhone 14 für ca.900 Euronen. Refurbished natürlich günstiger. Oder lohnte sich noch ein Akkutausch? Ein neuer Ersatzakku wurde in der eBucht für 25 € angeboten. Der technische Zustand meines Blackberry war und ist nach wie vor excellent. Also .. was tun?
Ein Smartphone mit einer physischen Tastatur in der Qualität ist nicht mehr zu finden. Die Vorstellung einer Hampelei auf einem virtuellen Keyboard trieb mich zu einer Entscheidung: Akkutausch. Ich kaufte den Ersatzakku und baute ihn in mein Passport ein, nachdem ich den alten, verklebten Akku entfernen konnte. Mein Oldie hat nun wieder Power für 2 Tage.
Für mich (mit-)entscheidend waren und sind die praktische Responsibilität und Nachhaltigkeit für und im Sinne unseres Planeten. Die günstigste Möglichkeit war und ist tatsächlich die im Sinne des Planeten. Eine völlig subjektive Sicht- und Verhaltensweise … völlig klar. Ebenso klar war für mich, dass der ganze ‚Schnickschnack‚ der heute umworbenen Hard- und Software für mich uninteressant und damit verzichtbar ist.
Pragmatismus .. Responsibilität.. Nachhaltigkeit… muss nicht nur Theorie sein – das funktioniert auch im kleinen Rahmen.

When the decision is made to buy a new smartphone – or to give the existing device a new battery – ‚worlds‘ collide. On the one hand, a new device gives you the feeling (and probably also the fact?) of being at the cutting edge of technology, and on the other? A new purchase generates a post-production and thus burdens the environment through resource requirements. Sustainable thinking and acting would therefore speak in favor of the battery exchange, if the battery of the existing device is on its knees or has already gone. Comparing the costs of both, the decision would be simple and logical: battery replacement.
I was faced with exactly this ‚problem‘. My 8-year-old Blackberry Passport SE (see picture) had only half the battery power and could no longer get through the day. The alternative for me, who rejects Android, was an iPhone, new or refurbished. I tended to the iPhone 14 for about 900 Euronen. Refurbished of course cheaper. Or was a battery exchange still worthwhile? A new replacement battery was offered in the eBucht for 25 €. The technical condition of my Blackberry was and still is excellent. So … what to do?
A smartphone with a physical keyboard in the quality is no longer to be found. The idea of hammering on a virtual keyboard drove me to a decision: Battery swap. I bought the replacement battery and installed it in my Passport after I was able to remove the old, stuck battery. My oldie now has power for 2 days again.
For me, the (co-)decisive factors were and are practical responsiveness and sustainability for and in the sense of our planet. The most favorable option was and is indeed the one in the sense of the planet. A completely subjective point of view and behavior … completely clear. It was equally clear to me that all the ‚bells and whistles‘ of today’s hardware and software are uninteresting to me and therefore dispensable.
Pragmatism .. Responsiveness … Sustainability… does not have to be just theory – it also works on a small scale.
