Es ist wie das Sägen an einem Ast am Stammende eines Baumes – auf genau dem Ast sitzend und alle Warnungen ausschlagend. Wie soll das benannt werden? Ignorant, dumm, suizidär oder einfach nur dämlich?

Im konkreten Fall ist es absolut vorrangig, alle Register zu ziehen. Es ist aus europäischer Sicht zwar weit weg – aber ein wörtlicher Brandbeschleuniger des globalen Klimawandels – menschengemacht. Sich da noch zu duellieren und Persönliches in den Vordergrund zu stellen, ist ein Ergebnis anzuzweifelnder Machtfülle und grundsätzlich überdenkbar.

Die Souveränität eines Staates ist prinzipiell unantastbar, doch hier geht es nicht mehr nur darum, sondern um globale Auswirkungen von einer Art, die die gesamte Menschheit und damit alle Staaten und Menschen betrifft. Die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt kommt dabei immer zu kurz.

Für militärische Aktionen wird (meistens) eine Handlungsunion erzielt und Geld freigesetzt. Und im aktuellen Fall lässt man einen Menschen -den Präsidenten Brasiliens- gewähren, sein Spiel mit der Ignoranz der Realität weiterzuspielen. Nur – es ist ein Spiel mit dem Ergebnis, das nachher nicht mehr umkehrbar ist und alle nur verlieren können.

Was hilft? Ein UN-Mandat, das anderen Staaten erlaubt, einzugreifen? Und wie wird das nachher missbraucht? Oder Überzeugungsarbeit durch Diplomatie? Ein G100-Gipfel (oder mehr)? Illusionen helfen sicherlich nicht! Also… was bleibt? Natürlich die Diplomatie und zwar von der Sorte, die unmissverständlich deutlich macht, dass ALLE in einem Boot sitzen, das leckgeschlagen ist. Wenn das nicht begriffen wird, dann ist das Anthropozän (Zeitalter des Menschen) bald Geschichte – und zwar schneller als gedacht.
