Seit Jahren trage ich als prinzipieller Fan mechanischer Uhren (vornehmlich Chronographen) eine Apple Watch – ein faktischer Widerspruch insich. Zuletzt habe ich mich Ende des vergangenen Jahres aufgeschwungen, eine Ultra mein Eigen zu nennen.

Warum? Ganz einfach: Sie gefiel mir nicht nur von der Größe, sondern auch von den vielen, für mich nützlichen Funktionen, wie die frei belegbare Taste am linken Uhrengehäuse und … natürlich.. von der verlängerten Batterielaufzeit von ca. 3 Tagen usw.. Bei der Größe des Gehäuses eine adäquate Batterie einzubauen, entzog und entzieht sich meines technischen Verständnisses. Weiterhin fehlen mir immer noch bei der Apple Watch generell Funktionen, wie z.B. die Blutdruck- und die Blutzuckermessung. Ok, dass die noch nicht marktreif sind, sah ich als Tatsache an.

Stimmt aber nicht! Durch Zufall sah ich einen Hinweis auf eine Smartwatch, die das alles integriert haben will. Ich stieg in das Thema vertieft ein und… wurde fündig und kaufte das Teil:

Eine Knauermann pro (2023) plus (links abgebildet) – Made in Germany, ob man es glaubt oder nicht. Software nach der DSGVO. Batterie ca. eine bis drei Wochen, je nach Nutzung!! Seit drei Tagen trage ich die Uhr. Nach mehrmaligem Kalibrieren misst sie den Blutdruck und den Blutzucker mit einer Abweichung von den analogen Messungen von ca. 2-5 bereits so genau, dass ich mich durchaus schon darauf verlassen kann. Und nun der Preis: Keine 999 € wie die Apple Watch Ultra oder die Hälfte davon für eine ‚Normale‘, nein… sie kostet Liste 219,90 € !! Das heißt, dass die Ultra das Viereinhalbfache kostet! Tja….Es klingt sicherlich überheblich, wenn ich sage, dass das zweitrangig war, denn es ging und geht um die Features, die für mich wichtig sind: Blutdruck- und Blutzuckermessung! Seit 15 Jahren steche ich mir mir die Fingerspitzen ‚hart‘, und es ist eine tatsächliche Erlösung von der Pein. Nach der kurzen Zeit und diverser Kalibrierungen der Knauermann ergab mein abendlicher Messungsvergleich eine Differenz von ‚2‘ !! Eine Smartwatch, die das kann, was eine 4,5–mal so teure Luxussmartwach nicht kann, muss ein bemerkenswertes Gerät sein. Ja, das kann ich bereits bestätigen!

Welches Fazit ziehe ich und das ist nicht einmal voreilig?!: Über kurz oder lang wird die zweifelsfrei faszinierende Ultra wieder verkauft. Die Frage und Bemerkung bleibt: Apple, was hast Du eigentlich für eine Preispolitik. Gemeint dabei ist nicht nur die hier erwähnte Ultra, sondern das gesamte Sortiment!

As a fan of mechanical watches (primarily chronographs), I’ve been wearing an Apple Watch for years – a factual contradiction in terms. Most recently, at the end of last year, I decided to own an Ultra.

Why? Quite simply: I liked it not only from the size, but also from the many, for me useful functions, such as the freely assignable button on the left watch case and … of course… from the extended battery life of about 3 days and so on. With the size of the case to install an adequate battery, eluded and eludes my technical understanding. Furthermore, I am still missing in the Apple Watch generally functions, such as blood pressure and blood glucose measurement. Okay, that they are not yet ready for the market, I saw as a fact.

But that’s not true! By chance, I saw a reference to a smartwatch that wants to have all this integrated. I got into the subject in depth and…. found what I was looking for and bought the thing:

A Knauermann pro (2023) plus (shown on the left) – Made in Germany, believe it or not. Software according to the DSGVO. Battery about one to three weeks, depending on use!!! I have been wearing the watch for three days. After several calibrations, it measures the blood pressure and blood sugar with a deviation from the analog measurements of about 2-5 already so accurate that I can already rely on it. And now the price: no 999 € like the Apple Watch Ultra or half of that for a ’normal‘, no…. it costs 219,90 € !!! That means the Ultra costs four and a half times as much! Well….It certainly sounds pretentious when I say that was secondary, because it was and is about the features that are important to me: Blood pressure and blood sugar measurement! I have been pricking my fingertips ‚hard‘ for 15 years, and it is an actual relief from the pain. After the short time and various calibrations of the Knauermann, my evening measurement comparison showed a difference of ‚2‘ !!! A smartwatch that can do what a 4.5 times more expensive Luxuissmartwach can not, must be a remarkable device. Yes, I can already confirm that!

What conclusion do I draw, and it’s not even premature? Sooner or later, the undoubtedly fascinating Ultra will be sold again. The question and remark remains: Apple, what kind of pricing policy do you have? This doesn’t just mean the Ultra mentioned here, but the entire range!
