Tja, dann ist es wohl soweit: BlackBerry Ltd.© hat das EOL (End of life / Ende des Lebens) ihres mobilen Betriebssystems OS10 zum 04.01.2022 bekannt gegeben. Das betrifft die Legacy-Dienste für BBOS und BB10, die dann außer Betrieb genommen werden. Das Ende eines Trauerspieles. BB10 war und ist seiner Zeit voraus und hatte/hat ein Potenzial, das noch nicht ausgereizt ist. Man denke nur an den HUB, in dem alle Mitteilungen/Nachrichten chronologisch aufgelistet werden. Die farblich gestaltbaren LED’s für eingehende Nachrichten. Die physische Tastatur, die z.B. beim Passport auch als Trackpad funktioniert, den quadratischen Bildschirm zum übersichtlichen Arbeiten mit Tabellenkalkulationen usw..

Die Geräte werden wohl darüber hinaus funktionieren .. angekündigte Updates waren nichts anderes als – Täuschungen oder besser Lügen in meiner Wahrnehmung. Das sind dann die Ergebnisse einer dilettantischen Firmenpolitik natürlich mitsamt deren Entscheider oder hatte das ‚Plan‘? Wenn das so geplant war, dann stellt sich die Frage, warum die Nutzer im Unklaren und damit im Regen stehen gelassen wurden und werden? Nicht transparent sondern knallhart. Es ist dreist, von Kunden noch Vertrauen zu erwarten, wenn die Konkurrenz weiß, wie sie dahingehend Vertrauen aufbaut und die Kunden an sich bindet. Was BlackBerry© in der Beziehung abgezogen hat, ist lächerlich oder unrealistisch, ja arrogant. Deren Produkte sind das Gegenteil. Die Kanadier sollten bei Apple© in die Ausbildung gehen. Ältere iPhones mit bis zu 6 zurückliegenden Versionen des IOS erhalten noch Updates. Das können auch die Android-Phones nicht bieten. Ein iPhone mit physischer Tastatur und den oben genannten Features des BB OS10 bleibt ein Traum. BlackBerry© ist ein Trauma…

Das Thema BlackBerry© als Firma ist damit für mich erledigt. Meine geliebten ‚Beeren‘ werde ich weiterhin solange nutzen, bis sie ihren Geist aufgeben. Bei der Qualität der Hardware wird das wohl noch einige Jahre dauern, nur … was ist mit der Verwendung des unvergleichlichen Betriebssystems? Nach dem EOL 2022 ist eine Neuinstallation des Betriebssystems bei Bedarf oder Notwendigkeit nicht mehr möglich. Dann hat man ein nostalgisches, recht teures Ausstellungsstück in der Glasvitrine.

Das BlackBerry© Passport ist vielleicht irgendwann im Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) zu bestaunen…

Well, I guess that’s it: BlackBerry Ltd.© has announced the EOL (End of life) of their mobile operating system OS10 as of 04.01.2022. This concerns the legacy services for BBOS and BB10, which will then be taken out of service. The end of a tragedy. BB10 was and is ahead of its time and had/has a potential that is not yet exhausted. Just think of the HUB, where all messages/messages are listed chronologically. The colorizable LEDs for incoming messages. The physical keyboard, which e.g. also functions as a trackpad for passports, the square screen for clear working with spreadsheets etc.

The devices will probably work beyond that … announced updates were nothing else than – deceive or better lies in my perception. These are the results of a dilettantish company policy, of course, including its decision-makers, or was it a ‚plan‘? If it was planned that way, then the question arises, why were and are users left in the dark and thus in the rain? Not transparent but tough. It’s bold to expect customers to trust you when the competition knows how to build trust and retain customers. What BlackBerry© has pulled off in the relationship is ridiculous or unrealistic, even arrogant. Their products are the opposite. The Canadians should go to Apple© for training. Older iPhones with up to 6 past versions of the IOS will still receive updates. The topic BlackBerry© as a company is now finished for me. I will continue to use my beloved ‚berries‘ until they give up their spirit. Considering the quality of the hardware, this will probably take a few more years, but … what about using the incomparable operating system? After EOL 2022, it will no longer be possible to reinstall the operating system if needed or necessary. Then you have a nostalgic, quite expensive exhibit in the glass case.
