Translating a German poem into English is – for me at least – very difficult. I hope that the attempt is understandable.
Couples
The industrious steady companions
on world stages human ladder
are two that complement each other perfectly
shine cheaply with power and powerlessness
in cold brute force manner
they disguise the ‚background greed
they rule absolutely feudal
in hollow heads – damn it
they make alliances with all
who blindly fall down before them
they fear neither death nor devil
in egocentricity without doubt
Who is the said couple
in the outfit, like it always was ?
they grin from their high horses
they are – stupidity and arrogance
