Während der Regionalkonferenz des ‚Synodalen Weges‘ der katholischen Kirche in Frankfurt sagte ein Kardinal zur angemessenen Reaktion der katholischen Kirche auf die Corona-Pandemie: „Wer, wenn nicht wir, könnte Antworten geben.“ Ist das ein Bekenntnis zu Versäumnissen und einer entsprechend zukünftigen Korrektur – oder ist das eine kirchenübliche Metapher? Oder ist das wieder die suggerierte Gottesnähe? Das zieht immer noch. Oder Beides oder Mehreres?
Die Äußerung des Kardinals kommentiere ich (als theologischer Laie und selbstdenkender Mensch) entgegen jeden Respekts vor dem Titel und dem Rang des Würdenträgers wie folgt kurz und bündig: Das ist blanker Unsinn! Warum? Die entsprechende Erklärung ist in einem Beitrag zuvor zu lesen und soll hier nicht als Platzfüller wiederholt werden. Nur kurz ergänzend: Kirchliche ‚Dienstgrade‘ wurden nicht vom Kirchengott verliehen, sondern von kirchlichen Entscheidungsgremien. Nicht von Gottes Gnaden oder Wollen, sondern weltlich von Menschen. Keine suggerierte Zwangsvertrautheit der Menschen zur Kirche und keine der Kirchen zu ihrem treu postulierten Gott. Theologen beschäftigen sich mit den Auslegungen der Bibel von Menschen und lassen dabei offen, dass sowohl die Schriften als auch die Auslegungen spekulativ sind – und nichts anderes. Sie halten das Verb ‚glauben‘ als Substantiv derart gefangen, dass es automatisch mit Gott und Kirche verbunden wird. Verinnerlicht mit Strenge der Liturgie, Demut und einem permanent schlechten Gewissen der Gläubigen gegenüber den Geboten. Demnach ist das kirchliche Gebaren immer noch dahingehend prinzipielles Blendwerk und verschleierte Arroganz im Sinne einer vorgegaukelten Kompetenz, die weder bewiesen noch mir Ehrfurcht erzeugend erscheint und ist. (Das war in jungen Jahren genau anders herum…)
Da diese Denkweise numerisch progressiv ist, bringen das grundsätzliche Verharren und das zeitlich nicht angepasste Auftreten der Kirchen auch mit dem ‚Synodalen Weg‘ nicht mehr Leute in die Kirchen. Wie war noch der Spontispruch aus den Ende-Sechzigern? = ‚Unter den Talaren… der Muff von tausend Jahren‘. Würden sie den Zölibat aufheben, Frauen gleichberechtigen und ins Priesteramt lassen und weiteren Forderungen entsprechen, dann hätten sie möglicherweise eine bessere Chance für ihre zukünftige Existenz. Würden sie Sprüche, wie den oben genannten, unterlassen und sich für alternative Interpretationen der biblischen Darstellungen öffnen, dann hätten sie wieder eine Chance, ihre schwindende Akzeptanz zurück zu gewinnen oder zumindest zu verbessern.
Vor ca. 500 Jahren gab es Tetzels Ablass. Dann kam Luther. Genau so ein Mutiger fehlt schon lange, um eine ‚Tempelreinigung x.0‘ durchzuführen. Das in der Istzeit auftretende Personal jeglicher Hierarchie in den Kirchen wirkt geduckt unfähig und ungeeignet für angepasste Reformen im großen Stile. Das Branding traditionellen Verhaltens ist bei ihnen nicht mehr änderbar. Es bedarf wesentlich jüngerer Freidenker, die mutig genug sind, Ventilatoren unter die Talare zu halten – bei höchster Drehzahl.

The ‚Synodal Way’…
During the regional conference of the ‚Synodal Way‘ of the Catholic Church in Frankfurt, a cardinal on the appropriate response of the Catholic Church to the Corona pandemic said: „Who, if not us, could give answers? I (as a theological layman and self-thinking person), contrary to any respect for the title and rank of the dignitary, comment briefly and succinctly on the Cardinal’s statement as follows This is sheer nonsense! Why is this nonsense? The corresponding explanation is to be read in an article before and shall not be repeated here as a filler. Only briefly in addition: Church ‚ranks‘ were not awarded by the church god, but by church decision-making bodies. Not by the grace or will of God, but by people in the world. There is no suggestion of a forced familiarity of people with the church and none of the churches with their faithfully postulated God. Theologians deal with people’s interpretations of the Bible, leaving open the fact that both the scriptures and the interpretations are speculative – and nothing else. They hold the verb ‚believe‘ substantively captive in such a way that it is automatically connected with God and church. Internalized with rigor of the liturgy, humility and a permanently bad conscience of the believers towards the commandments. According to this, church behavior is still in this respect a principled dazzling and veiled arrogance in the sense of a pretended competence, which neither seems nor is proven to me to be awe-inspiring. (That was the exact opposite in young years…)
Since this way of thinking is numerically progressive, the fundamental persistence and the temporally unadapted appearance of the churches, even with the ‚Synodal Way‘, does not bring more people into the churches. What was the spontaneous saying from the late sixties? = ‚Under the robes… the muff of a thousand years‘. If they would abolish celibacy, let women have equal rights and the priesthood, and meet further demands, then they might have a better chance for their future existence. If they would refrain from saying sayings like the ones mentioned above and open themselves to alternative interpretations of the biblical representations, they would again have a chance to regain or at least improve their dwindling acceptance.
About 500 years ago there was Tetzel’s indulgence. Then came Luther. Just such a courageous person has been missing for a long time to perform a ‚temple cleansing x.0‘. The staff of any hierarchy in the churches appearing in the actual time seems ducked, incapable and unsuitable for adapted reforms on a grand scale. The branding of traditional behavior is no longer changeable for them. Much younger free thinkers are needed who are brave enough to hold fans under their gowns – at the highest speed.
