Die Umgewöhnung… The changeover…

Gemeint ist die Umgewöhnung von BlackBerry10 auf IOS. Zwei unterschiedliche Smartphone-Betriebessysteme mit unterschiedlicher Schwerpunktsetzung. BB10 mit dem Schwerpunkt Produktivität, IOS eher in der ‚Unterhaltung‘, Kamera usw.. Das heißt nicht, dass IOS nicht produktiv genutzt werden kann, nur… allein die Ordnerstruktur ist für einen BB10-User schon fast eine Zumutung. Hinzu kommt u.a. noch die ‚wunderbare‘ Foto-app. Das nachzuvollziehen, geht nur im direkten, praktischen Vergleich. OK… ich bin ein (ur)alter Apple-User – einer, der lange, lange keine iPhones nutze, sondern BlackBerrys aus besagten Gründen. Doch mit dem Bedienerluxus der Brombeeren mit BB10 ist nun bald Schluss. Das EOL (end of life) ist am 04.01.2022. Was dann noch funktioniert, ist nicht abschätzbar oder gar konkret. Es geht hier nicht um eine Verbundenheit zu einem Betriebssystem, sondern um die bestmögliche Nutzung im produktiven Sinne. Ein ‚Betriebssystem‘ ist lediglich ein Applikationsstarter mit grafischer Benutzeroberfläche (GUI) für einen benutzerfreundlichen Zugriff auf die Daten – ‚mehr‘ nicht. Je benutzerfreundlicher es ist, je verbundener ist man damit. Klar. Eine Sache des Anspruchs und der Art der Nutzung. Ebenso klar.

Da, wie gesagt, das EOL des BB10 ansteht, ist es natürlich logisch, dass ein Ersatz gefunden werden muss/sollte. Da etwas Gleichwertiges oder Gleichartiges in der Bedienerfreundlichkeit nicht zu finden ist, muss ein Kompromiss herhalten. Einer, der dem intelligentesten Betriebssystem einigermaßen näher kommt. Android kommt für mich nicht in Frage wegen der Holprigkeit (mein Empfinden!), miesen Updateversorgung (2 Jahre) und schwer nachvollziehbaren Sicherheitsmängel. Mag ja alles anders sein – für mich ist es aber so. Was bleibt übrig? -> IOS. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren habe ich ab und zu mein altes iPhone SE1 benutzt und immer wieder zur Seite gelegt. An das iPhone SE2 habe ich mich nun so langsam gewöhnt. Immernoch fehlt mir die unglaubliche, kapazitive Tastatur des BlackBerry Passport und das wird irgendwie auch so bleiben. Immer wieder habe ich das phantastische Gerät in der Hand. Auf dem iPhone tippe ich -wie andere auch- auf Glas. Spaß macht das nicht, wenn man etwas ‚Besseres‘ gewöhnt ist.

Neues muss nicht immer besser sein… Oder ist es treffender zu sagen : ‚Den Usern als cooler eingeredetes Neues … ist besser? Ansichtssache…

What is meant is the change from BlackBerry10 to IOS. Two different smartphone operating systems with different focus. BB10 with the focus on productivity, IOS more in ‚entertainment‘, camera etc…. That’s not to say IOS can’t be used productively, just…. the folder structure alone is almost an imposition for a BB10 user. In addition, there is the ‚wonderful‘ photo app, among other things. To understand this is only possible in direct, practical comparison. OK… I am a (very) old Apple user – one who has not used iPhones for a long, long time, but BlackBerrys for said reasons. But with the operator luxury of the Blackberries with BB10 is now soon an end. The EOL (end of life) is on 04.01.2022. What will still work then is not assessable or even concrete. This is not about an attachment to an operating system, but about the best possible use in a productive sense. An ‚operating system‘ is merely an application launcher with a graphical user interface (GUI) for user-friendly access to data – ’nothing more‘. The more user-friendly it is, the more connected you are to it. Sure. A matter of aspiration and how you use it. Equally clear.

Since, as I said, the EOL of the BB10 is imminent, it is of course logical that a replacement must/should be found. Since something equivalent or similar in user-friendliness cannot be found, a compromise has to be found. One that comes somewhat closer to the most intelligent operating system. Android is out of the question for me because of its bumpiness (my feeling!), lousy update supply (2 years) and hard-to-understand security flaws. Everything may be different – but for me it is so. What remains? -> IOS. In the past two years I used my old iPhone SE1 from time to time and always put it aside. I have now slowly gotten used to the iPhone SE2. I still miss the incredible capacitive keyboard of the BlackBerry Passport and somehow it will stay that way. Again and again I have the fantastic device in my hand. On the iPhone, I -like others- type on glass. It’s not fun when you’re used to something ‚better‘.

New does not always have to be better… Or is it more accurate to say : ‚To the users as cooler eigeredetes new … is better? Matter of opinion…
