Wahlkämpfe tragen nicht nur das Wort ‚Kampf‘ (Plural) in sich, sondern zeigen dem nicht für ausreichend politisch gebildet gehaltenen Wahlvolk, dass es ohne Beeinflussung nicht in der Lage sein würde, eigene Entscheidungen zu treffen. Also bedarf es Schilder, Fernsehspots, Wortgefechte oder Scheingefechte usw.. Wehner, Strauß und auch Schmidt waren in Deutschland Meister des Kampfes unter der Gürtellinie (Ratten und Schmeißfliegen/Sie feixende Meute/ Sie Mensch.. Sie/ Herr Lüg und Weiteres in der Lesart). Strauß und Wehner sollen aber privat zusammen Skat gespielt haben. Also alles nur Show? Mag sein…
Doch… in den USA sind wohl die Karten mental anders gemischt. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass deren Shows nicht nur nach außen transportiert werden, sondern im Gegeneinander auch so gemeint sind – persönlich. Mag ein Irrtum sein… also eine Mentalitätsfrage. (Warum war John Wayne nicht Verteidigungsminister unter Reagan?) Sich gegenseitig in die rhetorische Pfanne zu hauen, ist die Art Wahlkampf, die ein nicht bestimmbarer Teil des Wahlvolkes sehen und hören will. Das hat schon fast ‚Comedy-Charakter‘ mit dem Schwerpunkt nicht auf politische Themen, sondern auf Darstellung und Demontage der Gegnerschaft.
Die Spendenpraxis in den USA ist eigentlich nur bedingt eine, denn ein zügellos kapitalversiffter Lobbyismus wird getragen von milliardenschweren Unternehmen. Keine direkten Spenden, sondern weit gestreute Organisationen und sogenannte ‚Think-Tanks‘ sind ja keine Parteien und unterliegen dadurch nicht der Spendenobergrenze. Digital und analog verbreitete Aktionen ohne finanzielle Grenzen zur Wählermanipulation und direkten Einflussnahme auf politische Institutionen -samt Präsidenten(?)- zeigen schon fast eine Käuflichkeit politischer Entscheidungen. Das ist keine Demokratie mehr. Das ist Übertölpelung in einer schamlosen Art, die hinter den Kulissen abgezogen wird. Das hat nichts mehr mit dem ehrlich gedachten ‚Amerikanischen Traum‘ zutun.
„Joe Biden ist nicht der Retter von Amerikas Seele – er ist der Zerstörer von Amerikas Jobs“, sagte der Präsident beim Parteitag der Republikaner. „Und wenn er die Chance bekommt, wird er der Zerstörer der amerikanischen Großartigkeit sein.“
Eine Demonstrantin sagt: „Wir brauchen eine Revolution“. „Wir müssen Trump rausbekommen, wir müssen das ganze System zerstören.“
Biden: „Das Problem ist, wir befinden uns gerade in Donald Trumps Amerika.“ Auf dem Parteitag der Republikaner habe es vor allem eines gegeben: „Lügen, Lügen, Lügen.“ Und: „Ich denke, wir alle wissen, dass dieser Mann eine etwas pathologische Neigung hat, nicht die Wahrheit zu sagen.“ Er meint wohl die ‚Alternativen Fakten‘ …
Kann man sich vorstellen, dass Trump und Biden zusammen Karten spielen wie Wehner und Strauß? – Das wäre die Lachnummer des Jahrzehnts.
Demokratie heißt ‚Herrschaft des Staatsvolkes ‚ und nicht ‚Herrschaft des Kapitals‘.

Election campaigns not only carry the word ’struggle‘ (plural) within them, but also show the electorate, which is not considered sufficiently politically educated, that it would not be able to make its own decisions without influence. So there is a need for signs, TV spots, word fights or sham fights, etc. Wehner, Strauß and also Schmidt were masters of fighting below the belt in Germany (rats and blowflies/they smirking pack/you man… She/ Herr Lüg and further in the reading). Strauß and Wehner are said to have played skat together in private. So it was all just for show? Maybe so…
But… in the USA the cards are probably shuffled mentally differently. I have the impression that their shows are not only transported to the outside world, but are also meant in the opposite direction – personally. May be a mistake… a question of mentality. (Why wasn’t John Wayne Secretary of Defense under Reagan?) Trying to rhetorically fry each other is the kind of election campaign that an indefinable portion of the electorate wants to see and hear. It is almost ‚comedy‘ in character, with the emphasis not on political issues, but on the presentation and dismantling of the opposition.
The donation practice in the USA is actually only conditionally one, because an unrestrained capital-smart lobbyism is carried by billion-strong enterprises. No direct donations, but widely spread organizations and so-called ‚think tanks‘ are not parties and are therefore not subject to the donation ceiling. Digital and analog actions without financial limits for voter manipulation and direct influence on political institutions – including presidents(?)- show almost a venality of political decisions. This is no longer democracy. This is duplicity in a shameless way, taken behind the scenes. This has nothing to do with the honestly thought ‚American dream‘ anymore.

A demonstrator says: „We need a revolution“. „We need to get Trump out, we need to destroy the whole system.“
Biden: „The problem is, we are in Donald Trump’s America right now.“ At the Republican Convention, he said, there was one thing above all: „Lies, lies, lies.“ And: „I think we all know that this man has a somewhat pathological tendency not to tell the truth.“ I think he means the ‚alternative facts‘…
Can you imagine Trump and Biden playing cards together like Wehner and Strauß? – That would be the laughing stock of the decade.
Democracy means ‚rule of the people‘ and not ‚rule of capital‘.
