Deutsch

Digilog ist eine eigene Wortkreation (in diesem Zusammenhang noch nicht anderswo wahrgenommen). Eine Kombination aus ‚Digital‘ und ‚Analog‘. Was soll das? Nun… Für mich ursächlich war und ist die Frage, ob es noch zeitgemäß ist, einen Ringplaner mit Füller oder sonstigem Stift zur Termin- und Aufgabenplanung zu nutzen.

Es ist doch so einfach und gegenüber einem analogen Ringplaner, einen unschlagbaren, digitalen Planer zu nutzen. Zweifellos. Doch… digital bedarf Strom und… schon geht es los : Akku leer – Hard- und/oder Softwareversagen – Hacker – wo landen meine Daten, Satelliten fallen aus und so weiter, und so weiter.

Immerhin bin dabei voll auf dem Sattel des Zeitgeistes. Eine Smartwatch macht das Ganze noch leichter. Da brauche ich ja nur noch den Arm heben und nicht nur Uhrzeit, Datum und Stoppuhr sind im Sichtfeld, nein – hinzu noch Puls, Blutsauerstoff, EKG, Kalender, Schritte, Temperatur und mehr. Die Informationsflut erscheint unschlagbar und suggeriert sowas wie ‚Fürsorge‘ und ‚wir kümmern uns um dich‘. . und … ‚bleib schön bei uns, wenn du ein neues Gerät brauchst‘ Da fühlt man sich doch so umsorgt. Alle wollen nur mein Bestes… Eine Definitionsfrage.

Auf all das dieser schönen, digitalen Welt sollte ich verzichten – mitnichten! Tatsächlich möchte ich meine Smartatch nicht mehr missen. Und so liegen meine mechanischen Uhren im Schrank und da bleiben sie auch, denn sie brauchen keinen Strom und müssen regelmäßig geladen werden. Die zieht man noch von Hand auf, stellt sie ein und fertig. Ist das altbacken? Geht einmal durch irgendeinen Schaden der Saft aus, dann ist das Altbackene wieder sowas von gefragt. Die digitale Infrastruktur ist sehr fragil. Das liegt nicht im allgemeinen Bewusstsein oder… man will es einfach nicht wahrhaben. Ich fahre zweigleisig :

Soll heißen : Nach wie vor ‚betreibe‘ ich einen Ringplaner mit Füller (ja Kolbenfüller) ; nicht nur, weil ich Handgeschriebenes liebe, sondern weil ich dieses Analoge, heute schon gestrig Wirkende immer noch liebe. Sehr gute Schreibgeräte sind und bleiben meine Passion.

Die Muße, in Ruhe zu sitzen, zu schreiben, selber zu formatieren und sein eigenes Geschreibsel zu betrachten, ist nicht vergleichbar mit dem auf einem Tablet oder mit der Tastatur auf einem Rechner.

Fazit: Beides, Digitales und Analoges, haben ihren Reiz und entbehren keineswegs ihrer Notwendigkeit. Nur… keines von Beiden ist zu vernachlässigen! Das Problem : Das Digitale verdrängt zunehmend die Handschrift, die Ausdruck der Individualität, also der Eigenheit einer Person ist.

Digilog ist also meine Sicht- und Handlungsweise hinsichtlich des Digitalen und Analogen. Weder das Eine .noch das Andere sollte vernachlässigt werden. Dieser Planet ist analog und wird vom Menschen digital interpretiert mit all den vergeblichen Versuchen, ihn zu domestizieren.

Digilog is a word I made up (not seen anywhere else yet). It’s a combo of “digital” and “analog.” What’s that about? Well… For me, it was and still is about whether it’s still cool to use a ring binder with a pen or other writing tool to plan appointments and tasks.

It’s so easy to use an unbeatable digital planner instead of an analog ring planner. No doubt about it. But… digital requires electricity, and… here we go: dead battery, hardware and/or software failure, hackers, where does my data end up, satellites fail, and so on and so forth.

At least I’m fully in tune with the spirit of the times. A smartwatch makes the whole thing even easier. All I have to do is raise my arm and not only are the time, date, and stopwatch in my field of vision, but also my pulse, blood oxygen, ECG, calendar, steps, temperature, and more. The flood of information seems unbeatable and suggests something like “care” and “we look after you.” And… ‘stay with us when you need a new device’. It makes you feel so cared for. Everyone just wants what’s best for me… A question of definition.

Should I give up all of this wonderful digital world? Not at all! In fact, I wouldn’t want to be without my smartwatch. So my mechanical watches are sitting in the closet, and that’s where they’ll stay, because they don’t need electricity and don’t have to be charged regularly. You wind them up by hand, set them, and you’re done. Is that old-fashioned? If they ever run out of power due to damage, then the old-fashioned ones will be back in demand. Digital infrastructure is very fragile. That’s not common knowledge, or… people just don’t want to admit it. I’m taking a two-pronged approach:

In other words: I still use a ring planner with a fountain pen (yes, a piston fountain pen); not only because I love handwriting, but because I still love this analog technology, which already seems outdated today. Very good writing instruments are and remain my passion.

The leisure of sitting quietly, writing, formatting your own work, and looking at your own writing cannot be compared to using a tablet or a computer keyboard.

Conclusion: Both digital and analog have their appeal and are by no means unnecessary. However, neither should be neglected. The issue is that digital technology is increasingly replacing handwriting, which is an expression of individuality, i.e., a person’s uniqueness.

Digilog is therefore my perspective and approach to the digital and analog worlds. Neither one nor the other should be neglected. This planet is analog and is interpreted digitally by humans, with all their futile attempts to domesticate it.
