Hier zeige ich mein Apple Powerbook G3 Pismo. Ich nenne das Prachtstück ‚Lady in Black‘. Es ist eine Würdigung der 22 Jahre langen Dienste, denn das ist ihr Alter. Ja, das ist Nachhaltigkeit pur und das Ergebnis liebevoller Pflege. Die geschwungenen Linien haben mich von Anfang an fasziniert. Dieses ist in einer Weise anwenderfreundlich, die nicht mehr existiert (jedenfalls nicht bei Apple). Zugänglich für technisch nahezu alle Bestandteile. Tastatur hochklappen und das Innere erlaubt den Wechsel der Platte, des Prozessors, RAM und so weiter….. Zwei seitliche Hebel schieben die Batterien links und rechts heraus – oder rechts ein DVD-Laufwerk für eben die zweite Batterie (die immer noch für gut eine Stunde gut ist !).Hot swappable! Wer einmal das Vergnügen hatte, auf der Tastatur zu tippen, der fragt sich, warum so etwas letztlich aussortiert wurde.

MacOS 10.4 Tiger erfüllt längst nicht mehr die erforderliche Sicherheit im Netz und ist (leider) mit Vorsicht zu genießen. Aber als Bürorechner‘ ist das Pismo die beste Sekretärin. Ich habe einen wirklich aktuellen Rechner, den Pismo nicht ersetzen kann – aber … das Teil hat auf mich eine magnetische Wirkung.

Das Powerbook ist der Beweis dafür, dass (nicht nur) solche Geräte reparatur- und damit anwenderfreundlich und nachhaltig hergestellt werden können – Apple hat es mit dem Powerbook G3 Pismo bewiesen.

Here I show my Apple Powerbook G3 Pismo. I call this beauty ‚Lady in Black‘. It’s a tribute to 22 years of service, because that’s its age. Yes, it’s pure sustainability and the result of loving care. The curved lines have intrigued me from the start. This is user-friendly in a way that no longer exists (at least not on Apple). Accessible to technically almost all components. Lift up the keyboard and the inside allows you to change the disk, processor, RAM and so on….. Two levers on the side slide out the battery on the left and right – or a DVD drive on the right for just the second battery (which is still good for a good hour !).Anyone who has had the pleasure of typing on the keyboard will wonder why such a thing was eventually sorted out.

MacOS 10.4 Tiger has long since failed to meet the required network security and should (unfortunately) be used with caution. But as an office computer‘ the Pismo is the best secretary. I have a really up-to-date computer that Pismo cannot replace – but … the thing has a magnetic effect on me.

The Powerbook is proof that (not only) such devices can be manufactured in a repair-friendly and thus user-friendly and thus sustainable way – Apple proved it with the Powerbook G3 Pismo.
