Hier erinnere ich an das siebte Studioalbum der britischen Rockband Pink Floyd, erschienen am 03.06.1972.

Nach wie vor höre ich das Album mit Begeisterung. Es basiert auf dem Soudtrack für den französischen Film La Valée.

Das war die erste ‚Vinyl-Platte‘ der Floyds, die ich 1973 kaufte. Damals konnte ich in meinem Stammplattenladen probehören. Als ich ‚Obsolutely Certains‘ hörte, war ich geflasht. Elektronik pur in einer Weise dargeboten, die ich zuvor weder kannte noch gehört habe. Diese Platte war auch ein Grund für den Kauf eines teuren Dual-Plattenspielers mit sehr gutem Magnetsystem. Das war damals richtig was… und immer noch. ‚Meddle ‚und die “Atom Heart Mother‘ folgten.‘

Die Roger Waters Komposition ‚Free Four‘ war wohl der Weg für den bombastischen Erfolg von‚The Dark Side Of The Moon‘ .

Die weiteren Titel deuten schon die folgenden Alben wie ‚Wish You Were Here‘ usw. an. Die recht depressiven Texte von Waters wie bei ‚Free Four‘ zeigen den Werdegang Richtung ‚The Wall‘. Waters und das Verhältnis zu seinem Vater sind erkennbar wie auch beim Album ‚The Final Cut‘.

Wäre bei diesem Album nicht Pink Floyd am Werke, dann könnte man es auch ‚Krautrock‘ zuordnen.

Absolutely Curtains schließt das Album in spaciger Floyd- Manier ab. Interessant ist der Tribalgesang der Mapuga aus dem Schroeder-Film ‚Obscured by Clouds‘ und schließt spacig das Album ab-

In diesem Album sehe ich eine Art Verbindung zwischen der psychedelischen Floydzeit und den weiterentwickelten Folgealben. Auf jeden Fall hörenswert…

Here I recall the seventh studio album of the British rock band Pink Floyd, released on 03.0ß6.1972.

I still listen to the album with enthusiasm. It is based on the soundtrack for the French film La Valée.

This was the first ‚vinyl record‘ by the Floyds, which I bought in 1973. At the time, I was able to sample it at my local record store. When I heard ‚Obsolutely Certains‘, I was flashed. Pure electronics presented in a way I had never heard or known before. This record was also a reason for buying an expensive dual turntable with a very good magnetic system. That was really something at that time… and still is. ‚Meddle ‚and the “Atom Heart Mother‘ followed.“

The Roger Waters composition ‚Free Four‘ was probably the song that paved the way for the bombastic success of ‚Dark Side Of The Moon‘.

The other titles already hint at the following albums like ‚Wish You Were Here‘ and so on. The quite depressive lyrics of Waters as in ‚Free Four‘ show the development towards ‚The Wall‘. Waters and the relationship to his father are recognizable like on the album ‚The Final Cut‘.
