Solche ua’s schreibe ich bereits seit über 20 Jahren. Hin und wieder mit Erfolg. [Der für mich Nachhaltigste (ohne Andere vernachlässigen zu wollen!) war die Verhinderung der 1.000sten Hinrichtung in den USA. Nicht meine ua hat das verhindert, sondern die Menge aller ua’s weltweit. Ein Verbrecher kam aus dem Todestrakt in den ’normalen (lebenslangen) Vollzug‘. Einsatz für einen Verbrecher? Ist es das wert? Meine Antwort auf solche Fragen ist kurz und eindeutig = JA. Jeder (!) Mensch hat das Recht auf Leben. Kein Staat darf sich das Recht anmaßen, Menschenleben mit gesetzlicher Legitimierung zu beenden. Die Todesstrafe kann |darf weder von einem Gesetz, noch von einer Institution oder einem einzelnen Menschen angeordnet und vollzogen werden. Entscheidend für mich ist dabei nicht der religiöse, sondern der ethische Aspekt.] Soviel dazu…
(Vielleicht motiviert dieses Posting, selber initiativ zu werden – ein Wunsch!)
In diesem konkreten Fall geht es nicht um die Todesstrafe, sondern um die strafrechtliche Verfolgung von NGO’s in Venezuela. Ab dem 1.Mai 2021 müssen dort alle zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen mit strafrechtlicher Verfolgung rechnen, (Orig.Text ai = ) ‚… wenn sie sich nicht an unverhältnismaßige Registrierungsvorschriften halten. Die Verordnung ist Teil einer systhematischen Kriminalisierung von zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen (NGOs).

Dear President Maduro,
I call upon you to ensure this regulation is repealed immediately, and to stop all the harassment, penal prosecution and censorship of all civil society organizations working to protect the rights of all Venezuelans, particularly those in most need.

I have been writing such ua’s for over 20 years. Now and then with success.
[The most lasting one for me (without wanting to neglect others!) was the prevention of the 1,000th execution in the USA. It was not my ua that prevented that, but the amount of all ua’s worldwide. A criminal went from death row to ’normal execution‘. Outreach to a criminal? Is it worth it? My answer to such questions is short and clear = YES. Every (!) human being has the right to life. No state may arrogate to itself the right to end human life with legal legitimacy. The death penalty can be ordered and executed neither by a law, nor by an institution or an individual. The decisive factor for me is not the religious but the ethical aspect]. So much for that…

In this specific case, it is not about the death penalty, but about the criminal prosecution of NGOs in Venezuela. As of May 1, 2021, all civil society organizations there must expect criminal prosecution, (Orig.Text ai = ) ‚… if they do not comply with disproportionate registration requirements. The regulation is part of a systematic criminalization of civil society organizations (NGOs).
